WHY HYPNOTHERAPY?

People are discovering Hypnotherapy is a means to move past limiting beliefs, habits and behavior patterns. They are doing so because it is safe, simple and natural. Indeed, it’s the most natural therapy of all. No drugs or needles, nothing physical at all. It’s simply words. Yet words chosen with care can have great power to soothe, inspire, and encourage healing. Positive words from a soothing voice is the most natural therapy available. (Results are not guaranteed and may vary from person to person).

HOW CAN HYPNOTHERAPY HELP?

Hypnotherapy helps you to gently release habits, addictions, trauma, blocks and fears from your subconscious mind and set the wheels in motion to make the changes you desire in the way you think, feel and behave. We help you to train your mind at a deep subconscious level and get it working for you, not against you.

Think of your mind like an iceberg, the top of the iceberg is the part that is out of the water and is only 10% of the iceberg this small part represents your conscious mind which only deals with reality and logic and your short term memory. The largest part of the iceberg ins under the water and is 90% of the iceberg.

This 90% represents your inner mind, unconscious or subconscious mind and is concerned with the emotions, imagination and memory, as well as the autonomic nervous system which automatically controls your internal organs, i.e. how you breath, send oxygen to your blood cells or walk without using the conscious mind. This is also the part of your mind where your habits and addictions, fears and trauma are stored. The internal mind or subconsious mind runs on autopilot and is not logical and can be compared to the hard drive on your computer.

This inner part of your mind is made up of lots of programs like on a computer…these programs communicate to your logic outer mind through thoughts and feelings…once a program is installed in a computer it just runs automatically unless you decide you no longer need it and then you uninstall or delete it….your autopilot mind works well most of the time but sometimes inner mind programing is no longer consciously desired or appropriate for your benefit.

One example of a inner mind program that is running is the habit of smoking, perhaps you have said “I feel like the cigs are controlling me”.
Well they are because you are smoking because of the inner mind program you have running. But if you try to stop smoking you may feel you are in two minds. Part of you wants to stop smoking but there is a part that doesn’t. The part that wants to stop is your logical conscious mind but the part that doesn’t is the inner mind, the part of your mind that is working on autopilot.

Now its very difficult to remove inner mind programming yourself because you need to understand the language of the mind and also be in a frame of mind to do this…its also not a matter of just removing old habits and programs, you also need to replace them with new healthy ones…
That’s where the role of hypnotherapists can help you because we understand how to talk to your mind and help you to let go of the old habits or behaviors you no longer want.

And because hypnotherapy is the quickest and most powerful way to make the changes to your inner autopilot mind and bring it into balance with the outer mind wishes or desires. So whether you wish to stop smoking, increase confidence, improve health, or move past undesirable patterns hypnotherapy can help you.

CAN I BE HYPNOTISED?

To determine this ask your self these questions…

Are you able to follow simple instructions…Do you believe Hypnosis can help you…Have you ever daydreamed…Have you ever been traveling in a car, lost in conversation and the travel time appeared to pass rather quickly…Can you sometimes arise from sleep to get a drink of water and go right back to sleep…Are you willing to accept new ideas for change…Are you able to meditate or pray…

Have you ever been so caught up in reading a good book that you couldn’t put it down…While listening to a favorite song, can you remember where you were, what you were doing and who you were with when you first heard it…Did you ever lose track of time while engrossed in something enjoyable…Does your mouth water at the thought of sucking on, or biting into a plump, juicy, sour lemon…Do you have a vivid imagination…If you answered yes to most of these questions….

Congratulations! YOU ARE HYPNOTISABLE
And you have already experienced hypnosis!

HYPNOSIS MYTHS BUSTED

Crazy news stories, stage hypnotists and gossip has led many people to believe that when you are in hypnosis, you are under someone elses control. Nothing could be further from the truth.

When you are hypnotized, you are just really relaxed and focused – in fact, the most common comment is “Was I hypnotized?”. The only reason people stay in hypnosis is because it feels fantastic. Any time they want to, they can get up and walk away.

Most people experience hypnosis as a pleasant feeling of deep relaxation, and some say their body feels heavier (or lighter) than usual. Therapeutic hypnosis should not involve anything that you feel is inappropriate or ridiculous. Even in trance, you will not do or say anything contrary to your conscious wishes, behavior or morality.

Going into hypnosis isn’t the same as being asleep. People often say things like “I could hear every word you were saying”, or “I felt like I could open my eyes if I wanted to”. It is vital to learn that hypnosis isn’t like being asleep – you can be aware of everything around you, just like when you meditate (in fact the two states are nearly identical). In hypnosis, you simply have a stronger focus internally, plus wonderful deep relaxation.

You are quite capable of bringing yourself out of hypnosis or rejecting the suggestions, that is why you need to consciously want the changes. Hypnosis is very different to what you may have learned from the TV….and really cant make you do anything you don’t want to do. (Results are not guaranteed and may vary from person to person).

WHAT IS HYPNOSIS AND HYPNOTHERAPY?

Therapy is any procedure or practice that helps you to change and overcome problems or symptoms. Hypnosis by itself is not therapy, but allows you to apply your subconscious knowledge and resources to resolve your problems. This makes the therapy you undergo in hypnosis more effective in helping you create a long term change in your attitudes and behaviors. Remember that hypnosis is not mind control. In fact, the idea behind hypnotherapy is to give you back the control that you have lost, and which is causing your habit, problem or symptoms.

At the University Hospital of South Manchester, Professor Peter Whorwell, a gastroenterologist who heads the only NHS-funded hypnotherapy center in Britain, which has been pioneering hypnotherapy as a treatment of irritable bowel syndrome, says “One of the problems is the name, if we started off again with a name like neuromodulation, for example, it would be more readily accepted. The name hypnosis has so much baggage attached. Cognitive behavioral therapy is now reasonably well accepted, and so, too, is psychotherapy, but of the three, I would say hypnosis is potentially the most powerful. It is becoming a treatment of choice for IBS. When I am dead and gone, people are going to suddenly realise that hypnosis is an incredibly powerful tool and question why it has been ignored for so long.”

The first thing you have to do is get past the myths and misconceptions about hypnosis. It’s not a sleep state or something that someone can make you do. It’s a state of relaxed heightened, focused attention that we can all shift into very naturally. (Results are not guaranteed and may vary from person to person).

HOW MANY SESSION WILL I NEED?

Everyone is assessed at the first session and a clear indication will be given of how many visits may be necessary. If you decide to go ahead we can begin treatment at this session. As to how many sessions you will need depends on why you want hypnotherapy.

Some clients will only need one session or a very short number of treatments, usually smokers only need one session to stop however more complex cases will naturally need one or two extra sessions in order for there to be effective change.

We endeavour to assist with the required therapy in 1 to 4 sessions, normally ourmethod of therapy can be rapid and effective. We make sure our clients are not in therapy for long. All hypnosis is self-hypnosis and therein lies the key, that you the client are in fact your own healer, and self-motivator.

As hypnotherapists we simply help to bring your subconscious minds back into alignment with what you consciously want to be doing. We adhere to high ethical standards and all information gathered by us during a session is strictly confidential

Upon booking your appointment by telephone you will be given a standard session rate, as well as the time of your appointment and directions on how to get to the clinic.

As a courtesy at least 72 hours notice is required if an appointment has to be changed or canceled…so another clients can benefit from that time slot.
